The State Fire Service in Poland is the national governmental organization which main objectives are stated in the law act about the State Fire Service dated on 24th August 1991 year. The Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Rzeszów is an organizational unit of regional level which is a superior body to twenty one county headquarters of the State Fire Service located in each of 21 local districts. The Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service is an auxiliary apparatus of the Provincial Chef Commandant of the State Fire Service acting on the basis of the organizational legal act ratified by the Podkarpackie Province Governor. County Headquarters of the State Fire Service are the state auxiliary apparatus of the County Chief Commandants acting on the basis of their own organizational legal acts approved by the Provincial Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service in Rzeszów. The main responsibilities laid upon the State Fire Service in the Podkarpackie Province result from the legal act and are as follows: examining of the fire threats and the other local threats, organizing and conducting of the fire-rescue actions in case of fires, natural disasters or liquidation of local threats, executing of auxiliary specialized rescue operations during natural disasters or liquidation of the local threats by the other rescue services, education of stuff for the needs of the State Fire Service, fire prevention units and the common system of civil protection, supervision of the fire prevention law observance, executing the research and development works in the field of fire prevention and civil protection, cooperating with the foreign fire and rescue services and other organizations on the basis of bilateral or international agreements. Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Rzeszów has organized many seminars, field exercises of regional, national and international level.
